While most people associate Walt Disney World with childrens movies and as a place for kids, there is still plenty for us adults to do. And while the closing of Pleasure Island a few years back may have put a damper on our late night fun, Walt Disney World Still offers vibrant night life. Here is our list of the Best Activities For Adults At Walt Disney World.
Victoria & Albert’s
While the other restaurants in this article are all great in there own right, none of them even come close to Victoria & Albert's when it comes to a romantic night out. This restaurant has it all, classic Victorian Elegance, unbelievable dining experience and Food thats been winning the AAA Five Diamond Award since 2000, it simply cannot be beat.
Warm romantic atmosphere and sensational Canadian cuisine make Epcot's Le Cellier one of the finest restaurants in all of Walt Disney World. While the menu is seasonal and changes often, you can always count on Le Cellier serving there famous coffee rubbed steaks and seafood. While these offerings may prove to be far too expensive for a family dinner, a romantic night out for two is more than do-able, especially for those on the meal plan.
Jiko – The Cooking Place
Jiko is the Animal Kingdom Lodges premier dining experience and for good reason. While the wood burning ovens, authentic African cuisine and Wine tasting are all fantastic in there own right, our favorite experience at Jiko by far was the Wanyama Safari and Dinner. If you have a little extra cash, you simply cannot beat the private Safari, it is truly a once in a lifetime experience.
If you're looking for the most romantic experience in all of Walt Disney World, the Contemporaries California Grill is it. While the food and dining experience offered at the California Grill are second to none, they are not the reason a reservation for this restaurant are near impossible to come by, the impeccable view is. While the view from the top of the Contemporary Resort is breathtaking enough, the real treat comes once the sun goes down. There is simply no better place to watch Wishes the magic Kingdom Fireworks, there is nobody to block your view, you don't have to deal with the mob of people trying to leave the park and you get to enjoy a great meal at the same time.
Located in Epcot's World Showcase under the France pavilion, Monsieur Paul is a gourmet restaurant offering classic French Cuisine with an unbelievable dining atmosphere. While not exactly the cheapest restaurant in Walt Disney World (The Average Plate goes for about 30 dollars) the food here is fantastic. You can choose from one of three prix fixie entres, We recommend the Homard forestier (Maine Lobster with Sautéed Mushrooms) as it was the only entre we where able to try but we wouldn't hesitate trying either of the other two options as everything coming out of the kitchen looked fantastic.
Captain Cooks is one of our favorites on this list because it offers an incredibly romantic experience for almost no money. Head over to Captain Cook's when the sun goes down to grab a quick bite to eat from the bakery, we recommend the apple pies but everything is good. Once you've grabbed your snack of choice head down to the beach, cuddle up in a hammock, and watch the Wishes Magic Kingdom Firework Show while enjoying your snacks.
Tambu Lounge at Disney’s Polynesian Resort
Located in Disney's Polynesian Resort, the Tambu Lounge is a Island themed Tiki bar with Hawaiin inspired drinks and menu items. Our favorite menu item was the Tropical Macaw but the Island Sunset and Backscratcher have also received rave reviews.
River Roost Lounge at Port Orleans Riverside
In our opinion, the River Roost Lounge at Disney's Port Orleans Riverside is the most fun that can be had after dark thanks to Yeehaa Bob's nightly shows. The only caviat to this one being that he does not perform every night so make sure you check the schedule before you make your plans for the night.
Scat Cat's Club at Disney's Port Orleans Resort French Quarter
Located in Disney's Port Orleans French Quarter, Scat Cats Club is a southern style Jazz lounge that features a full bar and Live Music. Our favorite cocktail by a landslide was the Southern Hurricane and for those of you looking for something to eat look no further than the Bayou Buffalo Wings.
This Upscale Lounge located in Disney's Coronado Springs is a favorite for those looking for a little late night dancing. The Rix Lounge offers a wide assortment of specialty cocktails and menu items but our favorite by far was the Pomegranate Pop.
Right Behind the River Roost Lounge on our List of favorite activities for adults at Walt Disney World is Jellyrolls. This 21 and over only bar located on Disney's Boardwalk features a full bar and a huge list of specialty drinks, and while we love a good drink just as much as everyone else, the Dueling Pianos and audience sing alongs are what truly make Jellyrolls so much fun.
Drinking Around The World Showcase
We thought it would be best to group the entire World showcase into one activity for this one. Drinking around the World Showcase is another one of our favorite things to do Late Night at Walt Disney World, it's Basically a Bar Crawl around the World! The Drinks are fantastic but the people you meet from the different countries are the real highlight of this one. Sample drinks from all of the countries but we recommend spending most of your time in Germany and the UK for the best experience.
Territory Lounge at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
Located in the heart of Disney's Wilderness Lodge, this Rustic Lodge like bar features everything from signature cocktails, Pacific Northwest Wines and craft beers to specialty coffees and Atisinal Flatbreads. Our favorite offering here by far was the Bahama Mama.
Crew’s Cup Lounge at Disney’s Yacht Club
As a fellow New Englander Myself, this Seaside inspired lounge has a special place in my heart. Offering New England classics such as Clam Chowder, Clam cakes and fish and chips, the Crew's Cup will have you feeling like a real New Englander in no time. And if seafood isn't your thing, they also have a full bar and specialty drink menu as well.
Mizner’s Lounge at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
Located in Disney's Grand Floridian Hotel, Mizner's Lounge offers live jazz music played by the Gran Floridian Society Orchestra and one of the best Speciality Drink Menus around. While we recommend almost every drink on the menu, the Mizner Cooler is the one we couldn't help but have one too many of.
La Cava del Tequila at Epcot
With over 200 different Tequilas, top shelf cocktails, and Mexican beer and wine, La Cava del Tequila is the perfect place to have a drink or too. Located inside of the Mexican Pavillion, La Cava del Tequila goes unnoticed by most which makes it the perfect spot to grab a drink when it gets a little to busy during Epcot's busier hours.
Dawa Bar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Thanks to Animal Kingdom's recently extended night time hours, the Dawa Bar is the perfect place to Grab a drink to watch the new "Rivers of Light" show set to to start next month at the Animal Kingdom. While we haven't had a chance to sample what this African Bar has to offer, we hear the Dawa Blood Mary is the crowd favorite.
Night Safari at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge
While this is exclusively for guests staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, those that have taken part in this once in a lifetime opportunity said it was the highlight of there trip. With most of the animals being primarily nocturnal, you will get to see the animals in a way that simply cannot be compared to the "normal" daytime safaris.
Relax At A World Class Disney Resort
While all of the Walt Disney World resorts offer world class accommodations and services to their guests, the Deluxe Resorts and hotels go above and beyond the rest and are well worth the money for those looking for a romantic getaway. Not only do they offer higher end rooms, amenities and services, there is more often not far less children at these resorts due to the increased prices leaving you with a much more relaxing experience.
Visit A Luxury Spa At Disney
There is nothing more relaxing or romantic than a day at the Spa, and the 11 Spa's scattered around Walt Disney World are world class. They offer everything from your standard face mask and foot rub to the extravagant reflexology massages and hot stone therapy sessions. Whichever spa package you chose to go with, we promise you you won't be disappointed.
Watch Epcot Fireworks From Boardwalk
Another activity that cost little to money, head over to the Boardwalk as the sun starts to go down and catch a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants scattered around the Boardwalk and surrounding hotels. Than, about an hour before Epcot closes, look to the sky and enjoy one of the best seats in the house for Illuminations, it's an experience everyone should have at least once and whats more romantic than watching the fireworks together at Disney World?
Jungle Cruise at Night
This may seem like a strange one but the Jungle Cruise at night is a completely different experience to the one in the day. Not only is it 10 times scarier as it is pitch black out, but the Skipper's comments and jokes get a lot more suggestive as the sun goes down, provided there aren't any young children aboard.
Horsedrawn Carriage Rides at Resort Hotels such as Disney's Port Orleans are some of our favorite things to do as a couple. Not only does it offer you a romantic night out with your significant other, you also get a tour of the Entire Port Orleans Resort at night which is something you have to see to truly appreciate.
Just Be A Kid Again!
Last but certainly not least, when at Disney World, it's ok to let loose and just be a kid again. Feel free to let loose, go a little crazy, have some fun. It's Disney World for crying out loud, it's the happiest place on earth. Don't waste your time trying to stick to a daily itinerary or anything like that, just sit back, relax, and watch the Magic unfold right in front of your eyes.
