Don't get me wrong, all of the attractions at Walt Disney World are a blast to ride no matter what the time of day. With that being said, there are some attractions that are much better experienced once the sun goes down. From Splash Mountain to Expedition Everest, there are a few Disney rides that completely change for the better once the moon comes out to play. Here is our list of the Walt Disney World Attractions That Must Be Experienced at Night.
Splash Mountain-At Night, Splash Mountain is even better than it is during the day. While much of this attraction is unchanged at night as it primarily takes place indoors, the top of the drop is completely exposed to the outdoors and the climax of this attraction alone has earned Splash Mountain a spot on our list. While the faint of heart prefer to close there eyes when they reach the summit of Splash Mountain's 52.5 foot drop, those that manage to keep there eyes open will be rewarded with the most stunning view of Cinderella's Castle in the entire park.
Big Thunder Mountain- With it's incredible lighting, beautiful scenery and unique track layout, Big Thunder Mountain is the perfect nighttime attraction. While most of the other rides on this list are mostly indoors with only a few parts exposed to the elements, this ride aboard an abandoned Mid-Western Mining town is almost entirely outdoors. If you like Big Thunder Mountain in the daytime, we promise that you are going to love it after experiencing at night. There are elements of this attraction that simply cannot be experienced when the sun is in the sky. As a bonus, if you time it right, Big Thunder Mountain also offers a pretty spectacular view of Wishes!
Jungle Cruise-During the day, the Animatronic animals and witty comments from the skipper make the Jungle Cruise an attraction that's fun for the whole family. But, once the sun goes down, everything changes. The animals seem much more lively, the notorious headhunters suddenly become much more frightening and your skippers humor becomes a bit more, well, lets just say suggestive provided there aren't many children on board. And the best part about the Jungle Cruise at night? While during the day this attraction almost always has a 2 hour plus wait time, at night, most guest have either gone back to there hotels or are enjoying the fireworks leaving you with almost no wait on one of Magic Kingdom's most popular rides.
Twilight Zone Tower Of Terror-If you haven't ridden the Tower of Terror at nighttime than you haven't experienced it the way the imagineers wanted it to be experienced. This is an attraction that has to be done in the dark. The Haunted Hotel becomes much creepier at night making it all the more fun and if you can manage to keep you eyes open aboard this out of control elevator, you will be treated to a view of Hollywood Studios that is second to none.
Expedition Everest-Much like Big Thunder Mountain, most of Expedition Everest takes place outdoors, making it ten times more fun when experienced in the dark. You cannot see when all of the drops are coming, the Yeti becomes much more frightening when all you can see are his glowing red eyes and the feeling you get when you are waiting to be hurdled backwards and the only thing you can see is a broken track and the black nothing is something that truly cannot be described and must be experienced for ones self.
Tommorrowland Transit Authority People Mover-In our opinion, the Tommorrowland Transit Authority is far and way the best Walt Disney World attraction to ride at night. While the "People Mover" goes almost unnoticed to the uninitiated, those of us who spend more of our time thinking about Disney World than almost anything else know that this is one the Magic Kingdoms greatest secrets, and that goes ten fold when the sun goes down. The view of Tommorrowland in all of it's neon light glory is spectacular and if you have never seen the inside of Space Mountain when your eyes are fully adjusted to the dark, than the "People Mover" number one on your nighttime assault of the Magic Kingdom.
