Magic Kingdom is Walt Disney World's flag ship park. With over 41 attractions scattered throughout the park, getting to all of the attractions in one day is no small task, and once you factor in the one hour average wait time on the more popular attractions, getting everything done in one day seems more like a dream than a possibility. By all means if you think you can get to everything this vast park has to offer in one trip, than we say have at it. But for us mere mortals who have to pick and choose from all of the attractions, here is our list of the Top 10 "Must Do's" at Disney's Magic Kingdom.
Space Mountain: One of Walt Disney Worlds most famous rides, Space Mountain has everything a great rollercoaster should have, high speed turns, butterfly inducing drops, corkscrews, and as if that wasn't enough, the entire ride is set entirely in the dark. Nothing get's your heart pumping like flying around at high speed in complete darkness. Space Mountain offers excitement that is truly one of a kind and has to be experienced to truly to understand the magic of this attraction. There is a 44" height requirement and again the ride is completely in the dark so keep that in mind if you have younger children in your party. Being one of the most popular attractions in the park, the line will fill up quickly and stay full most of the day. We highly recommend utilizing Fastpass+ for this attraction as well as riding it early in the morning or right before the park closes to avoid the long lines.
Thunder Mountain: Big Thunder Mountain takes you on a runaway mine train through the middle of the Wild Wild West. This fan favorite features fast, banked turns, drops of all sizes, and a few tight switchbacks that are sure to have you grinning from ear to ear. This ride has a 40" height requirement and while there are some darker parts to this attraction, they are in no way scary and it is appropriate for all ages. While the line always moves pretty quick for this attraction, it can fill up in the busier part's of the day so Fastpass+ is highly recommended.
Splash Mountain: Walt Disney World's Splash Mountain is a Log Flume ride that transports you to a colorful southern bayou featuring classic Disney characters such as Brer Rabbit, Brer Fox, Brer Bear, and all your other favorite characters from Disney's classic film, "Song of the South". This attraction includes 950,000 gallons of water, 3 small dips and to conclude your visit to the Briar Patch, a 5 story waterfall that is sure to get you soaked. This ride has a 40" height requirement and is entirely indoors. There are no dark or scary themes and the entire ride is lit up by singing characters so it more than appropriate for all audiences. The line can get pretty long in the busier hours of the day so we do recommend using Fastpass+ for this attraction.
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train: Race through the diamond mine from Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs on this swaying family coaster. Seven Dwarfs Mine train is a fast paced thrill ride that while still classified as a Rollercoaster, it is still fun for the whole family and we wouldn't hesitate to bring younger children on this ride. The ride gets off to a rather tranquil start. Once you crest over that first hill though, we are engaged in a thrilling race through the diamond mine from Snow White and The seven dwarfs. This is also noticeably the only rollercoaster that sways back and fourth at any Disney theme park. Seven dwarfs mine train Continues to blow us away with it's amazing animatronics and rich sense of adventure.
It's a Small World: If you leave Walt Disney World and don't have the "Its a small world" theme song stuck in your head, where you even there at all? Who wouldn't love taking control of a Star Command cruiser and chasing the evil Emperor Zurg across the galaxy, all while blasting his evil minions to pieces with your laser Blaster? There is no height requirement for this attraction and while the ride does take place in the dark, it isn't pitch black and is very well lit by the Characters of Toy Story so we would not be worried about your smaller children being frightened. This attraction is located near Space Mountain Directly across from Stitches great Escape and being one of the most popular attractions in the Magic Kingdom, the line will fill up quick so Faspass+ is highly recommended for this attraction.
Monsters Inc Laugh Floor: Help the Monsters of Monstropolis power there city with your laughter. The Monsters Inc Laugh Floor is a Gut-Busting, live Comedy show featuring characters from "Monsters Inc" and "Monsters University." Disney's Monsters Inc Laugh Floor provides fun for all ages and with shows running every 15 minutes you can expect little to no wait.
Happily Ever After: Walt Disney World's "Happily Ever After" is simply the greatest firework show on earth, period. As a fan of the late great Wishes Nighttime Spectacular I was a bit sceptical of a new Firework show but once i was able to experience Happily Ever After i was an instant fan. Watch in : amazement as your favorite Disney Characters narrate over 653 Firework explosions over 100 feet above the spires of Cinderellas Castle. Not to mention the new laser show and castle projections are truly out of this world and unlike anything you have ever seen anywhere before. Happily Ever After Runs about an hour long and can be seen from pretty much anywhere in the park. We do however recommend getting a seat towards the entrance to the park as trying to get out of the park after the show can be a bit of a nightmare.
Haunted Mansion: Walt Disney World's "Haunted Mansion" is a Disney classic and has been home to 999 unearthly spectres since opening day October 1, 1971. Featuring Ghosts, Ghouls, Goblins and unexpected spooks, this attraction is sure to send a tingle down your spine. While mildly frightening, all of the ghosts are friendly and there is absolutely no blood or gore throughout this attraction, making it fun for all ages. The Haunted Mansion is tucked away in the right corner of Liberty Square and can be difficult to locate so make sure you visit our Parks page and click on the Magic Kingdom page to see a full map of the entire park. There is always a bit of a wait for the Haunted Mansion and the line can move slow at time so we recommend using Fastpass+ for this attraction.
Jungle Cruise: Climb aboard Disney's Jungle Cruise and set sail as you explore awe inspiring rivers across Asia, Africa and South America. You will see everything from marauding Monkeys, splash happy Hippos, and maybe even a Headhunter or two. And as if that wasn't enough, the slapstick Humor of your Homesick Jungle Cruise Skipper is sure to have you adding this attraction to your favorites list. This ride has no height requirement but watch your head as board and exit the boats, the roofs are low and we've seen numerous guests who wherent careful hit there heads. While most of this attraction is outdoors, there is a small part that takes place in a very dark cave, please keep that in mind if you're traveling with small children. The line for the Jungle Cruise is always incredibly long so Fastpass+ for this attraction is an absolute must.
